Preschool Learning

How do I teach my preschooler? Where do I start!

Preschool learning should be the most fun time in any child's life. They get to play without even knowing they are learning. They develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally all at the same time. Children develop understanding in many different ways but they learn best in an environment where they feel safe, secure, and confident and have opportunities for enjoyment.

Children deepen awareness of themselves as learners by planning, questioning and reflecting. Teach them, nurture every moment and keep it simple. Never in their lives will they be exposed to this kind of learning again. There are many ways in teaching your child without actually introducing a formal education: Activities, crafts, music, books andfull lesson plans for those who require some guidance.

Now how do preschoolers learn?

  • Preschool learning are all linked to their senses and the things they experience. Have you ever watched your preschooler? They touch, feel, smell, jump, and climb a lot. Not only on jungle gyms and other parent approved objects, but also things that makes your heart skip a beat.

  • They play imaginary games (my son 7 still do this) and asks a billion questions. They are very curious and need you to answer them truthfully. DO NOT make up answers, if you do not know, find out first and then tell them! Keep the answers short and to the point, do not bother them with fine details.

  • Reading plays a huge roll in preschool learning. Through reading they learn language skills and even build character. So, be sure you choose the right preschool books. Read to them, as much as you can.

  • Introduce preschool arts and crafts at an early age and expect a lot of mess! Never show them the fear when they mess, just praise them for what they create!

  • Helping you at home, kids cooking and cleaning - help them with many things, especially maths. Enjoy your preschooler and do not expect them to do things they are not ready for. Let them lead!

Preschool learning is one of the most important development phases in their lives. Do some research, buy a book and read more about it. Whatever you do, make sureyour preschooler gets the best of both worlds - learning and fun!
