Challenging Kids Craft

Kids Craft is one of the Activities that I find most Interesting and Fun

They get to create and then see their creation showing they are proud on their little faces. 

I've created this section for more parent involvement craft or should I say for the preschooler who wants a challenge. It might look easy by just reading it, but to allow your preschooler to DIY is another story.

Painted Pet Stones

These painted pet stones can be given to friends. They can then use it as a paper weight or just for show in their room.


What do you need:

  • Googly eyes

  • Flat clean stone

  • Non toxic paint

  • Paint brush

  • Black marker pen

  • Felt

  • Glue

  1. Look for stones of various shapes and sizes. Stones that will be great for looking like an animal.

  2. Paint the stone with white paint. Wait for it to dry.

  3. Look at the stone and decide what animal will look best and draw the design on the stone.

  4. Paint the design.

  5. Glue the googly eyes on the stone.

  6. Take the felt and cut it out according to the bottom of the stone and glue it.

Friendship Frame

Your preschooler can give this frame to their very best friend.

What do you need:

  • Pen

  • Card Board

  • Scissors

  • Bottle lids with width of 7,5cm

  • Photo's of your preschooler and friends

  • Glue

  1. Cut out a rectangle of 11.25cm x 35cm out of the card board.

  2. Put the lids on the photo's you've chosen, draw a circle around the lids so you can cut out the photo's in a shape of a circle.

  3. Glue the lids in a vertical row on the cardboard.

  4. Glue your photo's in the lids.

  5. Decorate the rest of the cardboard with glitter, stripes, dots etc.

 

Friendship Chain

This can be huge fun. It might take a while but it is worth it. Your preschooler can even use it as a border for the wall in their rooms.

What do you need:

  • A4 paper
  • Scissors
  • Decorations
  • Crayons/Pencils/Paint etc.

  1. Put the A4 paper on a flat surface.
  2. Fold in half as per (A)
  3. Fold it in half again as per (B)
  4. Fold it in half again as per  (C)
  5. Now draw your man according to the sketch - do not let it touches the top and the bottom.
  6. Cut through all the layers but make sure that the arms and legs are not cut where they meet the sides of the paper.
  7. You can now unfold it and see the chain.
  8. Decorate to hearts content with eyes, clothes, hair etc.
  9. You can make this chain long by repeating the steps and then to glue them side to side together.

Treasure Box

This kids craft activity is farely easy and simple.

  • What do you need:

  • Empty shoe box with lid

  • Bright gift wrap

  • Glue

  • Pictures they love (Cut out of magazines)

  • ID size photos
  • Scissors
  1. Cut out different patterns out of the different gift wrap.
  2. Cut out pictures out of the magazines.
  3. Glue them on the shoe box. Until there is no empty space.
  4. Cut the 2 corners on the one side of the lid and glue to the box. It needs to open like a jewelry case.
  5. Wait for it to dry.
  6. Stick the photo's all over the box and decorate with other materials you might have. ie:glitter
  7. When done, you can put some of your best toys, books in them and leave in your room.

Hand Flowers

I enjoyed this kids craft activity the most. Purely because their little hands are gorgeous.

What do you need?

  • Different color paint

  • Strips of cardboard - green

  • Any ofther color cardboard for the flowerpot.

  • A3 Size white board

  1. Cut out a flowerpot and stick to the A3 white board. Make sure it is not too big or too small as you still need to add the flower.

  2. Glue the flowerpot and the strips of green cardboard that comes out of the pot. The stems need to be the same amount as the flowers you are going to make.

  3. Let your preschooler paint their hands different colors and press it at the top of each stem - making a flower. Let them turn their hands according to the stem's direction.

  4. Let dry and put on fridge.
